Beaufort NC is located off US 17 to US 70. Beaufort is the 3rd oldest town in NC, founded 1713.

There are many historic homes that date back to 1767. Carteret County Courthouse located in the town is dated 1796. Put your head and hands in the stock and pillars outside the Old Jail built in 1829 which is located at the Colonial Village. See weaving looms. The village offers interesting guided tours. Visit the Old Burying Ground is an 18th century cemetery with guided tours. See The Hammock House is home of Blackbeard the Pirate and is  suppose to be haunted by the ghost of Blackbeard. Take a tour on a  Beaufort Waterfront English double Decker Bus.  Tours are run by Beaufort historical Association.

North Carolina Maritime Museum  located at 315 Front St. Beaufort NC. The museum has exhibits on Coastal and maritime history featuring the US life saving service, the historic lighthouse, artifacts recovered from Blackbeard's flagship, Queen ANe's revenge sunken ship was discovered in Beaufort Inlet in 1996, Museum holds an interactive dive twice a year. The interactive displays, diorama of the shipwreck site, model of the ship.

Outerbanks Ferry service is located at 328 Front St. Beaufort NC. Cruise to Cape Lookout 2xs a day. Take the Ferry service to Cape Lookout, Shackelford banks and Rachel Carson Estuarine Research Reserve.

Rachel Carson Estuarine Research Reserve is only accessible by Ferry. There are restricted areas here. See wild horses and over 200 species of birds. Hike on one of the many hiking trails on the reserve.

Beaufort Old homes and Antique show is held the last full weekend of June - tours churches, historic homes and gardens, old burying ground and more.
